Southland Basketball – Development Officer
Southland Basketball is seeking an experienced Development Officer to oversee our coaching, development and representative programmes. We are an established not for profit sports organisation, based in Invercargill, which facilitates and promotes basketball for all ages and levels.
We are looking for a suitably qualified person to take the role of Development Officer within our organisation. The role is heavily weighted towards player, coach and volunteer development but also encompasses being part of the entire SBA team.
Duties / Responsibilities:
To establish and manage a community basketball development programme that caters for all level of player and coaches.
To establish a culture of excellence, innovation and accountability within the development programme.
To effectively manage the development of coaching support staff and volunteers.
To identify and promote elite players within Southland Basketball and assist in their career development with BBNZ.
Previous basketball coaching experience at a high level is desirable
Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with a wide range of key stakeholders including sponsors, like associations, BBNZ and media .
Excellent communication skills - both oral and written
Self-motivated and able to work in a multi-disciplinary team
Flexible with great organisational and planning skills
Effective time management
Reliable, honest and non- judgmental
Some computer skills
Ability to communicate with people of all ages and cultures
Excellent basketball knowledge
Applicants must be flexible to work varied hours as per the nature of the sports industry.
